it's true. men can fall in love for just one night.
their ability to compartmentalize feelings and not think about anything further than that night.

but what bewilders me further is this :
despite knowing and having a sure thing in hand, they'd rather go out to a bar where the chances of them getting laid or even meeting someone tolerable are considerably lower yet, they choose that because the concept of the unknown, of the possibility, is so enticing!

sure thing vs. possibility - go figure.
goddamnit.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most us,
we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand.
The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion,
who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement,
who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness,
that is a friend who cares.

The greatest weakness of most humans
is their hesitancy to tell others,
how much they love them.....
while they're alive.

Do you know what it is to be a child?
It is to be something very different from the man of today.
It is to have a spirit yet streaming from the waters of baptism;
It is to believe in love,
To believe in loveliness,
To believe in belief;
It is to be so little that the elves can reach to whisper in your ear;
It is to turn pumpkins into coaches,
and mice into horses,
lowness into loftiness,
and nothing into everything,
For each child
has its fairy godmother
in its
own soul.

Overheard today :

"We must come again and ride the trolley!
The next time, we'll come early and get a good parking bay.
Then we'll go for a meatballs lunch.
After that we'll get a trolley and proceed to the aisles and play.
After a few hours then we head next door for shopping.
Must go fast-fast wan. The gush of cold air feels like winter."

Conversation between my mother and brother.
